About Camera Lens Filters
A lens filter screws onto the front of your lens to protect it or change how light reaches the sensor. We stock Urth and B+W filters in the common thread sizes, from small prime and compact lenses up to 95mm telephoto zooms.
The size you need is the filter thread of your lens, printed as a number after the ø symbol on the front of the lens or inside the lens cap (for example ø77). Buy one filter for your largest lens and a step-up ring for the smaller ones if you want to share filters between lenses.
Urth filters come in three tiers. Standard uses Japanese optical glass with a multi-layer coating, Plus+ uses SCHOTT glass with a heavier nano coating that sheds water and fingerprints, and Pro is the top tier.

Frequently asked questions
How do I know what size filter my lens takes?
Look for the ø symbol on the front of the lens barrel or inside the lens cap. The number after it, such as ø58 or ø77, is the filter thread in millimetres.
Which filter should I buy first?
A UV or clear filter protects the front element for everyday use. If you shoot landscapes, a circular polariser (CPL) is usually the most useful second filter because it deepens skies and cuts reflections, which cannot be recreated in editing.
Do filters reduce image quality?
A well-made multi-coated filter has very little visible effect. Cheaper uncoated glass can add flare when shooting towards the light, which is why we stock coated filters only.
