About Diffusion & Mist Filters
A Black Mist filter adds a gentle glow around highlights and lowers contrast slightly, giving digital footage and portraits a softer, more filmic look. Unlike a plain diffusion filter it keeps blacks fairly deep, so images do not turn grey.
Strength is given as a fraction: 1/8 is subtle and works for most scenes, 1/4 gives a more obvious glow around lights and skin highlights. The effect is strongest with bright points of light in the frame.

What does a Black Mist filter do?
It spreads a little light from bright areas into the surrounding image, softening highlights, reducing harsh digital sharpness and adding a glow around lights.
Should I choose 1/8 or 1/4?
Start with 1/8 if you want an effect you barely notice but would miss. Choose 1/4 for a clearly dreamy look, such as night street scenes or music video.
