About this accessory
The Urth 82mm Ethereal Black Mist 1/4 Filter Plus+ is a medium-strength diffusion filter. It uses German SCHOTT B270 glass with a CoraNano 20-layer coating on both sides, in an ultra-slim, warp-resistant aluminium frame that screws onto a 82mm lens thread.
Choose 1/4 when you want the glow to show rather than hint. It is a step stronger than 1/8 and well short of the 1/1, so it suits both stills and video where a defined filmic look is wanted.

How do I know if a 82mm filter fits my lens?
It fits any lens with a 82mm filter thread, whatever the make or mount. The thread size is printed on the lens, usually as ø82 on the front rim or on the inside of the lens cap. The number is the filter thread, not the focal length.
How strong is a 1/4 Black Mist filter?
It is a medium strength, with noticeable halation around highlights and lower contrast. In Urth's Ethereal range it sits between the light 1/8 and the strongest 1/1.
Does a Black Mist filter suit video as well as photos?
Yes. The lowered contrast and highlight bloom give a filmic look, and many videographers use Black Mist filters for that reason. It works equally well on stills.
Can I use the 82mm size on smaller lenses?
