At a glance: The Urth 58mm ND Filter Kit Plus+ includes ND8, ND64 and ND1000 filters (3, 6 and 10 stops) with lens caps, for lenses with a 58mm thread.

About this accessory

The Urth 58mm ND8, ND64, ND1000 Filter Kit Plus+ gives you three fixed neutral density filters: 3 stops, 6 stops and 10 stops. They use German SCHOTT B270 glass with a nano-coating in ultra-slim, warp-resistant aluminium frames, and front and rear lens caps are supplied.

Fixed ND filters give set, repeatable strengths, which many photographers prefer to a variable ring. ND8 is for modest slowing, ND64 for smoother water and moving subjects, and ND1000 for very long daytime exposures. All three screw onto lenses with a 58mm thread.

Works with

  • Lenses with a 58mm filter thread

Best for

Best for landscape and seascape photographers using a lens with a 58mm thread: silky water, moving clouds, empty streets from long exposures, and slow shutter work in daylight. Also useful for video shooters who need a fixed ND.

Frequently asked questions

What lenses take the 58mm ND Filter Kit?

It fits any lens with a 58mm filter thread, whatever the make or mount. The thread size is printed on the lens, usually as ø58 on the front rim or on the inside of the lens cap. The number is the filter thread, not the focal length.

What is in the Urth ND8, ND64, ND1000 kit?

The kit has three ND filters (ND8, ND64 and ND1000) plus front and rear lens caps.

How many stops are ND8, ND64 and ND1000?

ND8 is 3 stops, ND64 is 6 stops and ND1000 is 10 stops. Each stop halves the light, so longer exposure times become possible in bright conditions.

Should I choose fixed or variable ND filters?

Fixed ND filters give repeatable strengths without an adjustable ring. A variable ND, such as Urth's ND2-400, is quicker to adjust but is a single filter with one range.

  • A proper little treasure trove

3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
