At a glance: The Zeiss Secacam 1 is an entry-level 4G trail camera that sends photos and video to the Secacam app, with 32GB of built-in memory and no SD card needed.

About this camera

The Zeiss Secacam 1 is the entry point to the Secacam range of 4G trail cameras. An integrated multi-roaming SIM sends photos and video to the Zeiss Secacam app. It takes 3MP photos (up to 24MP interpolated), records up to 30fps video and saves to 32GB of internal memory, so there is no SD card to buy or fit.

A 2.4-inch screen and TEST button make set-up quick. At night a 60-LED black IR flash reaches about 25 metres, and it runs on 8 AA batteries, which are included. The app service plan is separate from the camera price. Choose the Secacam 1 if 3MP is enough and you prefer built-in memory to an SD card slot.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a subscription for the Zeiss Secacam 1?

The camera sends photos and video through the Zeiss Secacam app, and the app service plan is separate from the price of the camera. Check the current plan options on the Zeiss site before you buy so you know the running cost.

Does the Secacam 1 need an SD card?

No. The Secacam 1 has 32GB of internal memory, so it works without an SD card. Files can be copied off over USB-C.

How does the Secacam 1 send pictures to my phone?

It uses 4G (LTE) through an integrated multi-roaming SIM and delivers images and video to the Zeiss Secacam app. You need mobile signal where you place the camera.

How does the Secacam 1 differ from the Secacam 3?

The Secacam 1 has a 2.4-inch screen. The Secacam 3 has a newer chipset for faster transmission, a swivelling 1.9-inch display and an improved motion sensor lens. Both take 3MP photos and store to 32GB internal memory.

  • A proper little treasure trove

3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
