Best for
The natural telephoto partner to an 18-55mm on any X body - wildlife at moderate range, sport, portraits and travel. Brighter at the long end than most kit telezooms (f/4.8 rather than f/5.6-6.3) and optically strong throughout. For serious wildlife reach the 100-400mm is the step up; for constant f/2.8 the 50-140mm is the professional option.
Frequently asked questions
How does it compare with the XF 50-140mm f/2.8?
The 50-140mm is a constant f/2.8 professional lens - faster, weather-sealed, and better built, but heavier and far more expensive. The 55-200mm gives considerably more reach for less money and weight, at the cost of a slower aperture and no sealing.
Will the Fujifilm teleconverters fit?
No - the XF 1.4x and 2x teleconverters only work with a specific set of lenses (the 50-140mm, 100-400mm and 200mm). The 55-200mm is not among them.
