At a glance: The Urth 77mm Circular Polariser Pro is Urth's top-grade polariser for 77mm lens threads, with SCHOTT B270 glass and a 34-layer coating.

About this accessory

The Urth 77mm Circular Polariser Pro is the top tier of Urth's polarisers. It uses SCHOTT B270 glass with a CoraNano Max 34-layer coating on both sides, and Urth states reflectance of 0.5% or less. The frame is warp-resistant, aerospace-grade aluminium.

It is built for strong glare and reflection removal while keeping colour transmission neutral, with a slim frame designed to avoid vignetting. Choose it over the Standard or Plus+ polarisers if you shoot on a large 77mm lens and want the best coating Urth offers.

Frequently asked questions

What lenses take the 77mm Circular Polariser Pro?

It fits lenses with a 77mm front filter thread. Check the ø figure marked on the front of your lens or on its cap. A lens marked ø77 takes this filter directly, and the lens manual lists the thread size too.

How is the Pro polariser different from Standard and Plus+?

Pro uses SCHOTT B270 glass with a 34-layer CoraNano Max coating and a stated reflectance of 0.5% or less. Plus+ uses a 20-layer coating, and Standard uses Japanese AGC glass with a multi-layer coating.

Will a polariser darken my images?

Yes, a polariser absorbs some light, so expect a slower shutter speed or higher ISO. Modern cameras with through-the-lens metering normally account for it.

Can I use the 77mm size on smaller lenses?

Yes. A step-up ring from the smaller lens thread to 77mm lets you share one larger filter across several lenses, which is often cheaper than buying one filter per lens. Wide-angle lenses may show vignetting with a ring fitted.

  • A proper little treasure trove

3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
