At a glance: The Urth 72mm UV Filter is a clear protective filter for lenses with a 72mm thread, made with Japanese AGC glass and covered by a lifetime warranty.
About this accessory
For lenses with a 72mm thread, the Urth UV Filter Standard gives you a clear, lightweight cover for the front element. The glass is Japanese AGC optical glass with a multi-layer nano-coating, held in a slim warp-resistant aluminium frame.
The appeal is a low-cost, always-on guard that does not change your exposure. Urth backs it with a lifetime warranty. Buyers wanting more can look at the Plus+ tier (SCHOTT B270, 30-layer coating) or the Pro tier (tempered AERO-C10 glass).

Best for
Good for walkers, travellers and casual shooters who want to protect a lens with a 72mm thread without spending much. Fit it once and forget it, or use it as a spare for a second lens of the same thread.
Frequently asked questions
How do I know if a 72mm filter fits my lens?
It suits lenses with a 72mm filter thread, regardless of brand. The thread size is printed on the lens, usually as ø72 on the front rim or on the inside of the lens cap. The number is the filter thread, not the focal length.
Do I need a UV filter on a digital camera?
Not for image quality, as digital sensors are far less sensitive to UV than film. Most people fit a clear UV filter as a cheap, replaceable guard against scratches, dust and fingerprints on the front element.
Does the Urth UV Filter change my exposure?
No. A clear UV filter does not reduce the light meaningfully, so you do not need exposure compensation.
Can I use the 72mm size on smaller lenses?
Yes. A step-up ring from the smaller lens thread to 72mm lets you share one larger filter across several lenses, which is often cheaper than buying one filter per lens. Wide-angle lenses may show vignetting with a ring fitted.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.

George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
Philip B.Third visit to the shopBrilliant advice with awesome customer service
