At a glance: Urth's Pro UV filter in 72mm is built for durability, with tempered glass, a 34-layer dual-side coating and a lifetime warranty.

About this accessory

Urth's Pro tier for 72mm lenses swaps conventional glass for tempered AERO-C10 and adds a 34-layer CoraNano Max coating on both faces. The result is a stated 99.28% transmission, under 0.15% reflectance, and a slim aerospace-grade aluminium ring.

It is the one to pick if your lens works hard, in spray, dust or crowds. The coating keeps reflectance very low to reduce flare, and because it is clear you can leave exposure settings alone. Plus+ and Standard are the lower tiers.

Works with

Best for

A good match for expensive lenses used in rough conditions, from coastal storms to dusty trails. With a 72mm thread, confirm your lens marking before ordering. It also suits wide lenses, thanks to the slim frame.

Frequently asked questions

What lenses take the 72mm UV Filter Pro?

It suits lenses with a 72mm filter thread, regardless of brand. Check the ø figure marked on the front of your lens or on its cap. A lens marked ø72 takes this filter directly, and the lens manual lists the thread size too.

Is the Pro UV filter really stronger than normal glass?

AERO-C10 is the ionically tempered glass Urth uses in its Pro tier, and Urth states it is 600% stronger than standard glass. That figure is Urth's own claim, and no filter makes a lens impact-proof.

Do I need exposure compensation with the Pro UV filter?

No. Urth states 99.28% light transmission, so it behaves as a clear filter and your normal exposure settings apply.

Can I use the 72mm size on smaller lenses?

Yes. A step-up ring from the smaller lens thread to 72mm lets you share one larger filter across several lenses, which is often cheaper than buying one filter per lens. Wide-angle lenses may show vignetting with a ring fitted.

  • A proper little treasure trove

3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
