At a glance: A Standard-tier circular polariser for 72mm lens threads, with Japanese AGC glass and a multi-layer coating, for deeper skies and less surface glare.

About this accessory

For 72mm lens threads, this Urth polariser deepens colour and lifts contrast in landscapes and architecture. Japanese AGC glass keeps tones natural, and the frame is designed to avoid vignetting.

You turn the front ring until reflections fade or the sky darkens, and the effect is strongest at roughly 90 degrees to the sun. A polariser reduces light reaching the sensor, so expect a slower shutter speed or higher ISO. Plus+ moves to SCHOTT B270 glass with a 20-layer coating.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if a 72mm filter fits my lens?

Any lens with a 72mm front thread will take it. Check the ø figure marked on the front of your lens or on its cap. A lens marked ø72 takes this filter directly, and the lens manual lists the thread size too.

How do I use a circular polariser?

Fit it to the lens and turn the outer ring until you see the glare drop. It works best when the camera is pointing across the sun, not directly into or away from it.

Does a circular polariser need exposure compensation?

A polariser absorbs some light, so expect a slower shutter speed or higher ISO. Cameras with through-the-lens metering will usually adjust for you.

What is the difference between circular and linear polarisers?

Circular polarisers are designed to work with autofocus and metering systems on modern digital cameras, which is why this one is the usual choice. Linear types can confuse some camera systems.

  • A proper little treasure trove

3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
