At a glance: The Urth 55mm Circular Polariser Plus+ removes glare and reflections on lenses with a 55mm thread, using SCHOTT B270 glass and a 20-layer coating.
About this accessory
The Urth 55mm Circular Polariser Plus+ is the middle tier of Urth's polarisers. It uses German SCHOTT B270 glass with a CoraNano 20-layer coating on both sides, in an ultra-slim, warp-resistant aluminium frame. Urth states light transmission of 44.91% and reflectance of 0.56%.
Over the Standard polariser you get SCHOTT glass and a denser coating aimed at accurate colour. Urth's stated 44.91% transmission means it absorbs a fair amount of light, so allow a slower shutter speed or higher ISO. Pro is the step above, with a 34-layer coating.

Works with

Best for
Best for landscape and waterside photographers using a 55mm lens who want better colour fidelity than an entry polariser: lakes, coastlines, wet rock and foliage, and architecture where window glare is a problem.
Frequently asked questions
Will the 55mm Circular Polariser Plus+ fit my lens?
It fits lenses with a 55mm front filter thread. Check the ø figure marked on the front of your lens or on its cap. A lens marked ø55 takes this filter directly, and the lens manual lists the thread size too.
How much light does the Plus+ polariser lose?
Urth states light transmission of 44.91%, so it absorbs just over half the light. Expect to use a slower shutter speed, wider aperture or higher ISO to compensate.
What is the difference between Urth CPL Standard, Plus+ and Pro?
Standard uses Japanese AGC glass with a multi-layer coating. Plus+ uses SCHOTT B270 glass with a 20-layer dual-side coating, and Pro uses SCHOTT B270 with a 34-layer CoraNano Max coating and reflectance of 0.5% or less.
Can one 55mm filter be shared between lenses?
Yes. Step-up rings let a 55mm filter fit lenses with smaller threads, so one filter can cover several lenses. Watch for vignetting with wide-angle lenses when a ring is fitted.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.

George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
Philip B.Third visit to the shopBrilliant advice with awesome customer service
