The details
At a glance: Pentax SMC DA 50mm f/1.8 - affordable Pentax K-mount autofocus standard prime.
About this lens
The Pentax SMC DA 50mm f/1.8 is Pentax's affordable autofocus standard prime for K-mount APS-C DSLRs - 50mm on APS-C gives a 75mm full-frame equivalent, ideal for portraits. SMC multi-coating, compact form, internal focus. A popular first prime for Pentax DSLR users.
Build & handling
| Autofocus | Screw-drive (body motor) |
|---|---|
| Minimum focus distance | 0.45m |
| Filter thread | 52mm |
| Weight | 122g |
| Construction | Plastic barrel, SMC multi-coating |
Works with
- Pentax K-mount APS-C DSLRs - all bodies
- Pentax K-mount full-frame (K-1, K-1 II) - works with slight corner fall-off at f/1.8
- Screw-drive AF works on all Pentax DSLRs (all Pentax K-mount DSLRs have a body AF motor)
Best for
A capable affordable Pentax prime - 50mm f/1.8 in DA-designation means APS-C coverage (though it works on full-frame K-1/K-1 II too, just reaches the edges slightly less). Light, compact, sharp. A popular first prime for Pentax users moving beyond kit zooms.
Frequently asked questions
Will it autofocus on my Pentax K-70 / K-S2 / entry-level K-mount?
Yes - unlike Nikon's entry-level DSLRs, every Pentax K-mount DSLR has a built-in body AF motor, so screw-drive AF lenses like this 50mm f/1.8 autofocus on all Pentax bodies.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.
Dispatched on the Monday… great service
Ordered a Panasonic four thirds lens dispatched on the Monday after purchase and delivered on the following Tuesday great service. Tried on the camera and initial thoughts are wow pin sharp and clear photos. Thank you
George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
Philip B.Third visit to the shopBrilliant advice with awesome customer service
Sure you can buy online and possibly save a few pounds.. but if you require and appreciate knowledge and brilliant advice with awesome customer service then it's a no brainer...This is a real camera shop like it used to be back int day..
