The details

At a glance: Zeiss Dialyt 7x42 B T*P* - heritage Zeiss 7x42 roof-prism binocular with phase correction.

About this binocular

The Zeiss Dialyt 7x42 B T*P* is Zeiss's classic long-running roof-prism binocular - a 7x42 design that remained in production from 1964 through the 2010s. 7x magnification with 42mm objectives gives a bright, wide field of view ideal for birding, general nature, and steady hand-held use. T*P* signifies Zeiss's premium multi-coating (T*) and phase-corrected prisms (P*).

Weight Approx. 760g

Works with

  • Tripod-adaptable via Zeiss Binofix or similar adapter

Best for

A heritage premium Zeiss binocular - the 7x42 Dialyt was a stalwart of serious birding, wildlife observation and general outdoor use for decades. 7x magnification is easier to hold steady than 8x, and the 6mm exit pupil is excellent for low light. Succeeded by the Zeiss Victory series but still widely used and loved.

Frequently asked questions

What do 'T*' and 'P*' mean?

T* is Zeiss's premium multi-layer anti-reflection coating applied to lens surfaces. P* is their phase-correction coating on roof prism surfaces, correcting the phase-split that otherwise softens roof-prism images. Both are essential to serious roof-prism binocular quality.

  • A proper little treasure trove

3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
