The details
At a glance: Sony FE 50mm f/2.8 Macro - compact full-frame 1:1 macro + standard prime.
About this lens
The Sony FE 50mm f/2.8 Macro is Sony's compact 1:1 macro prime for full-frame mirrorless. 50mm macro means short working distance - best for inanimate subjects (product, jewellery, documents, food) rather than insects. Also functions as a standard prime at longer focus distances.

- Sony E-mount APS-C mirrorless (acts as ~75mm equivalent)
Best for
A dual-purpose 50mm - standard-prime focal length for general shooting, plus full 1:1 macro magnification at close range. The short working distance at 1:1 (around 6cm) limits its use for living subjects; best suited to product, jewellery, stamp, food and detail work. Compact and relatively affordable for a dedicated macro.
Frequently asked questions
Is it true 1:1 macro?
Yes. 1:1 (life-size) maximum magnification. Note the working distance at 1:1 is short (~6cm) - best for static subjects.
Does this lens have image stabilisation?
No. For macro work at high magnification, a tripod is usually best regardless of IS.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.
Dispatched on the Monday… great service
Ordered a Panasonic four thirds lens dispatched on the Monday after purchase and delivered on the following Tuesday great service. Tried on the camera and initial thoughts are wow pin sharp and clear photos. Thank you
George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
Philip B.Third visit to the shopBrilliant advice with awesome customer service
