At a glance: Sony 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G SSM - A-mount G-series tele-zoom, also works on E-mount via LA-EA3/EA5.
About this lens
The Sony 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G SSM is an A-mount (Sony Alpha SLT / DSLR) telephoto zoom - part of Sony's G (pro) line. Covers a useful telephoto range for wildlife, sports and events on Sony Alpha SLT bodies (A77, A99 etc.) or on Sony E-mount mirrorless via LA-EA3/LA-EA5 adapter.

Works with
- Sony Alpha SLT/DSLR (A77, A77 II, A99, A99 II, A900, A700 and older)
- Sony E-mount mirrorless via LA-EA3 adapter (manual/hybrid AF on A7 II+)

- Stabilisation handled by in-body SteadyShot on A-mount bodies
Best for
A G-series A-mount tele-zoom for Sony Alpha SLT/DSLR bodies - pro build quality, SSM silent AF, covers a useful 70-300mm range. On E-mount mirrorless via adapter (LA-EA3 for A7 II or LA-EA5 for newer), it becomes a usable tele-zoom - full AF is supported on LA-EA5-compatible bodies. Sony A-mount bodies have in-body SteadyShot stabilisation.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this on a Sony A7 mirrorless?
Yes - via Sony's LA-EA3 or LA-EA5 adapter. LA-EA5 gives full AF compatibility on A7 III, A7R III and later bodies. LA-EA3 works on older Sony E bodies with more limited AF.
Does this lens have image stabilisation?
Not in the lens itself. Sony A-mount SLT/DSLR bodies have in-body SteadyShot. On E-mount adapted bodies, stabilisation comes from IBIS where available.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.
Dispatched on the Monday… great service

George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
Philip B.Third visit to the shopBrilliant advice with awesome customer service
