The details
At a glance: Pentax K-3 II - 24MP weather-sealed APS-C DSLR with in-body stabilisation and Pixel Shift.
About this camera
The Pentax K-3 II is the flagship APS-C DSLR of its generation - a 24MP sensor with no anti-aliasing filter, weather sealing throughout, and Pentax's in-body Shake Reduction which stabilises any lens you fit. It adds a built-in GPS and Pixel Shift Resolution, which combines four exposures on a tripod for markedly higher detail and colour accuracy.

- All Pentax K-mount lenses, including manual-focus M42 glass via an adapter
- SD / SDHC / SDXC cards in two slots
- Pentax D-LI90 battery
- Pentax flashguns with P-TTL
Best for
Pentax built the K-3 II for photographers working outdoors in poor weather - the sealing and the in-body stabilisation mean even old, cheap K-mount primes become stabilised and usable in the rain. Pixel Shift is a genuine advantage for landscape and still-life work on a tripod. The lack of an anti-aliasing filter gives crisp detail at the cost of occasional moire on fine fabrics.
Frequently asked questions
What does in-body stabilisation mean for older lenses?
The sensor moves to compensate for shake, so stabilisation works with every lens you mount - including decades-old manual-focus K-mount primes. On other systems stabilisation usually has to be built into each lens.
What is Pixel Shift Resolution?
On a tripod, the camera takes four frames and shifts the sensor by one pixel between them, so every pixel records full colour information. The result has more detail and cleaner colour than a single frame. It needs a static subject.
Is the GPS useful?
It tags each photo with its location and also drives Pentax's Astrotracer mode, which moves the sensor to follow the stars and allows longer exposures of the night sky without a tracking mount.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.
Dispatched on the Monday… great service
Ordered a Panasonic four thirds lens dispatched on the Monday after purchase and delivered on the following Tuesday great service. Tried on the camera and initial thoughts are wow pin sharp and clear photos. Thank you
George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
Philip B.Third visit to the shopBrilliant advice with awesome customer service
Sure you can buy online and possibly save a few pounds.. but if you require and appreciate knowledge and brilliant advice with awesome customer service then it's a no brainer...This is a real camera shop like it used to be back int day..
