The details
At a glance: Pentax smc DA 12-24mm f/4 ED AL (IF) - constant-aperture ultra-wide zoom for K-mount APS-C, 18-36mm equivalent.
About this lens
The smc PENTAX-DA 12-24mm f/4 ED AL (IF) is Pentax's professional-grade ultra-wide zoom for APS-C, covering an 18-36mm equivalent range at a constant f/4. It was one of the strongest ultra-wide zooms available for any crop-sensor system, noted for low distortion and consistent corner performance - the lens Pentax landscape photographers reached for.

Best for
The natural choice for landscape, architecture and interior work on a Pentax APS-C body. The constant f/4 aperture keeps exposure stable through the zoom range, and the inner-focus design means filters and polarisers stay put as you focus. At 18mm equivalent it is genuinely wide - wide enough for cramped interiors and dramatic foreground-led landscapes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use it on a full-frame Pentax K-1?
It will mount, and the K-1 will crop automatically, but the DA designation means it is designed for the APS-C image circle - you will not get full-frame coverage across the whole zoom range.
Does the front element rotate when focusing?
No. The inner-focus design keeps the front element static, so graduated filters and polarisers hold their orientation.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.

George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
