About this accessory
The Peak Design Travel Tripod in aluminium is a full-height travel tripod engineered around an unusually small packed diameter - the leg sections and centre column nest so closely that it folds down to roughly the size of a water bottle. Includes Peak Design's integrated ball head with an Arca-type compatible plate.

Best for
Aimed at travel, landscape and hiking photographers for whom packed size matters more than absolute rigidity. The aluminium version is heavier and less expensive than the carbon model with the same dimensions. Very well suited to strapping to a daypack; less suited to long heavy telephoto work, where a chunkier tripod with a dedicated gimbal will be steadier.
Frequently asked questions
How does the aluminium version compare with the carbon one?
Same design and dimensions; the aluminium model is around 280g heavier and considerably cheaper. Carbon also damps vibration slightly better and is warmer to handle in cold weather. Optically irrelevant - it is purely weight, cost and feel.
Does it come with the ball head?
Yes - the head is integrated into the design rather than being a separate component, which is part of how it folds so small. It is not intended to be swapped for a third-party head.
