The small 1/2.3in sensor is the trade-off: image quality falls away in low light compared with a larger-sensor compact or a mirrorless camera. Frequently asked questions
How does it compare with the older TZ90 or TZ200?
The TZ99 is the current 30x model and adds USB-C and refreshed connectivity over the TZ90-generation cameras. The TZ200 range is a different proposition - a much larger 1in sensor with a shorter 15x zoom, so better image quality but less reach.
Is the 720mm end usable handheld?
With the optical stabilisation, yes in good light - but at full zoom any camera shake is magnified, so brace yourself or use a support. Image quality is softest at the extreme long end, as with all superzoom compacts.
