Best for
Nikon's flagship mirrorless - their equivalent to Canon's R3/R1 or Sony's A1. Integrated vertical grip, dual CFexpress slots, no mechanical shutter (fully electronic), blackout-free 20fps RAW shooting. Used by pro sports, wildlife, editorial and news photographers. 8K video capability is a serious tool for hybrid shooters.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the right camera for me?
The Z9 is a professional flagship - designed for pros who need the fastest AF, highest frame rates, best video and integrated-grip handling. For enthusiast work the Z6 II (all-rounder), Z7 II (high-res) or Z8 (compact flagship) are more appropriate choices. The Z9 suits pros primarily.
What about the Nikon Z8?
The Z8 is essentially a Z9 without the integrated vertical grip - same sensor, same AF, same video capability, smaller and lighter body. Many photographers who don't need the flagship's integrated grip and redundancy go with the Z8 instead.
