About this lens
The Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2.8G ED is Nikon's professional ultra-wide zoom - a constant f/2.8 across a genuinely wide 14-24mm range, with ED glass and Nano Crystal coating. Long regarded as one of the finest ultra-wide zooms made for any system.

Best for
The lens of choice for landscape, architecture and astrophotography on Nikon full frame - exceptionally sharp corner to corner with very well controlled distortion for its class. The bulbous front element and fixed petal hood mean conventional screw-in filters cannot be used, so a dedicated holder system is required, which is why these are often sold with one. Also popular adapted to mirrorless bodies.
Frequently asked questions
Why can't I use normal filters?
The front element bulges forward and the hood is built in, so there is no filter thread. Using polarisers or ND filters needs a large filter holder system that clamps around the barrel - Lee, NiSi and Haida all make suitable 150mm-class holders.
Is it worth it over a 16-35mm f/4?
If you need 14mm, f/2.8, or the very best corner sharpness for astro and architecture, yes. The 16-35mm f/4 is lighter, cheaper, takes normal 77mm filters and is stabilised - a better everyday landscape lens for many people.
Will it autofocus on entry-level Nikon DSLRs (D3xxx / D5xxx)?
Yes. The built-in AF-S silent-wave motor handles autofocus in-lens, so this works on every Nikon F-mount DSLR including entry-level bodies.
