The details
At a glance: Nikon AF-P 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR - full-frame FX tele-zoom, near-silent AF-P motor, 4.5-stop VR.
About this lens
The Nikon AF-P 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR is Nikon's full-frame FX telephoto zoom built around an AF-P stepping motor, which makes autofocus dramatically quieter and faster than the earlier AF-S version. The E designation marks an electromagnetic diaphragm for more consistent exposure during bursts, and VR provides up to 4.5 stops of stabilisation.

- Nikon DX DSLRs supporting AF-P (D500, D7500, D5600, D3500 and similar)

- Not supported on older DSLRs that predate AF-P - check your body before buying
- 67mm screw-in filters
Best for
A light, sharp telephoto zoom for wildlife, sport and general long-lens work on full-frame Nikon DSLRs, and equally at home on DX bodies where it reaches an effective 450mm. The near-silent AF-P motor makes it particularly well suited to video. One important caveat: AF-P lenses require a reasonably recent body, so check compatibility before buying if you are using an older DSLR.
Frequently asked questions
What is AF-P and why does it matter?
AF-P uses a stepping motor rather than the older silent wave motor. It is faster and almost completely silent, which helps for video and for wildlife where noise matters. The trade-off is that older DSLR bodies do not support AF-P lenses - some cannot autofocus with them at all.
Is this the same as the AF-S 70-300mm?
No. The AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED VR is the older 2006 design. This AF-P E version has a different motor, an electromagnetic diaphragm, updated optics and improved VR.
Will it work on a Nikon Z camera?
Yes, via the FTZ or FTZ II adapter, with autofocus and VR retained.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.

George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
Philip B.Third visit to the shopBrilliant advice with awesome customer service
