Best for
A Leica filter - UVa filters are traditionally used as protective glass covers for expensive lenses (a cheap filter protects a valuable front element) plus reduce atmospheric haze in landscape photography. Leica-branded filters are machined to tighter tolerances than generic alternatives, with better anti-reflection coating.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a UV filter on a digital camera?
Digital sensors have built-in UV cutoff filtering, so UV filtering isn't strictly necessary. However, a UV filter still works as protective glass for the front element - many photographers use them primarily for protection rather than UV filtering.
