At a glance: Compact 55mm f/2.5 medium-format prime with a built-in leaf shutter for Hasselblad's X-system.

About this lens

The Hasselblad XCD 2.5/55V is a 55mm f/2.5 standard prime for the X-system medium-format mirrorless mount, released in 2023 as one of the compact 'V' series lenses. It gives a roughly 43mm-equivalent field of view on the 44x33mm sensor and, like all XCD lenses, carries a built-in leaf shutter that flash-syncs at every shutter speed, all in a lightweight 372g body.

  • Hasselblad 907X series
  • Built-in leaf shutter with flash sync at all shutter speeds (up to 1/2000s)

Best for

A natural 'standard' lens on the 44x33mm sensor, the 55V is an everyday walk-around prime suited to portraits, documentary, travel and street work where a light, discreet medium-format kit matters. Its built-in leaf shutter allows full flash synchronisation at any shutter speed, which is handy for daylight fill-flash and studio lighting. It fits every Hasselblad X-system body and the 907X, and its optics are designed to resolve detail for the system's 100-megapixel sensor.

Frequently asked questions

What is the equivalent focal length?

Roughly 43mm in full-frame terms on the 44x33mm sensor, giving a natural 'standard' angle of view.

Does it have a built-in leaf shutter?

Yes. The upgraded leaf shutter fires up to 1/2000s and flash-syncs at all shutter speeds.

How close can it focus?

Down to 0.45m, for a maximum magnification of about 1:6.4.

Is it weather-sealed?

There is a rubber gasket at the mount to help resist dust and moisture, but Hasselblad makes no formal weather-sealing claim, so severe conditions are best avoided.

Which cameras does it fit?

All Hasselblad X-system bodies, including the X1D II 50C and X2D 100C, plus the 907X.
