The details
At a glance: Fujifilm FinePix 40i - 2.4MP Super CCD digital compact from 2000 that doubles as an MP3 player.
About this camera
The Fujifilm FinePix 40i is a compact digital camera from 2000 that doubled as an MP3 player - a genuine artefact of the moment when digital cameras, music players and phones were all converging and nobody yet knew which would win. It uses Fujifilm's Super CCD sensor and stores both photographs and music on SmartMedia cards.
Build & handling
| Sensor | 2.4 megapixel Super CCD |
|---|---|
| Lens | Fixed focal length, f/2.8 |
| Storage | SmartMedia card |

| Type | Compact digital |

Works with
- SmartMedia cards (now obsolete - source separately if not included)
- Supplied MP3 headphone adapter
Best for
A collector's piece as much as a camera - the FinePix 40i is one of the more memorable convergence devices of the early digital era, and its brushed metal body still looks striking. The Super CCD sensor gives images a distinctive character that is part of the appeal for photographers exploring early digital aesthetics. Worth knowing that SmartMedia is long obsolete, so a card and reader may need sourcing separately.
Frequently asked questions
Can I still get memory cards for it?
SmartMedia was discontinued long ago, so cards are only available second-hand, and readers for them are similarly scarce. Check what is included before buying if you intend to shoot with it.
Does the MP3 player still work?
The function is built in and uses the same SmartMedia storage as the photographs. Please ask us about the condition and completeness of the MP3 accessories on this particular example.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.
Dispatched on the Monday… great service
Ordered a Panasonic four thirds lens dispatched on the Monday after purchase and delivered on the following Tuesday great service. Tried on the camera and initial thoughts are wow pin sharp and clear photos. Thank you
George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
Philip B.Third visit to the shopBrilliant advice with awesome customer service
Sure you can buy online and possibly save a few pounds.. but if you require and appreciate knowledge and brilliant advice with awesome customer service then it's a no brainer...This is a real camera shop like it used to be back int day..
