At a glance: Fujifilm XF 1.4x TC WR - weather-sealed 1.4x teleconverter for supported XF telephoto lenses, 1-stop loss.

About this lens

The Fujifilm XF 1.4x TC WR is a weather-resistant teleconverter that multiplies the focal length of compatible XF telephoto lenses by 1.4x, at a cost of one stop of light. It sits between body and lens, keeping full autofocus and aperture communication, and is designed to match the sealing of the professional XF telephoto range.

Build & handling

Magnification 1.4x focal length
Light loss 1 stop (an f/2.8 lens becomes f/4)
Optical construction 7 elements in 3 groups
Weather resistance Yes - sealed, -10°C operation
Autofocus Retained, with full electronic communication
Weight 130g

Works with

  • XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR
  • XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR
  • XF 200mm f/2 R LM OIS WR
  • XF 150-600mm f/5.6-8 R LM OIS WR
  • Not compatible with standard or wide-angle XF primes and zooms - the rear element would collide

Best for

The efficient way to add reach to an existing fast telephoto without carrying a second long lens - a 50-140mm f/2.8 becomes a 70-196mm f/4, and a 100-400mm becomes a 140-560mm. Only a specific set of XF telephoto lenses accept it mechanically, so check compatibility before buying. Best suited to wildlife and sport shooters who already own one of the supported lenses.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fit any XF lens?

No. It only mounts on a specific list of XF telephoto lenses. On other lenses the protruding front element physically prevents mounting, which is deliberate - it protects the rear element of incompatible lenses.

Do I lose autofocus?

No. Autofocus and aperture control are fully retained. You lose one stop of light, so autofocus may work a little harder in dim conditions, and the reported maximum aperture changes accordingly.
