At a glance: Fujifilm X-H2S - 26.1MP stacked-sensor flagship APS-C mirrorless, 40fps, 7-stop IBIS, 6.2K video.
About this camera
The Fujifilm X-H2S is Fujifilm's 2022 speed-focused flagship APS-C mirrorless body, built around a 26.1MP stacked BSI X-Trans CMOS 5 HS sensor. The stacked design gives it dramatically faster readout than the rest of the X range, which is what unlocks 40fps blackout-free shooting, greatly reduced rolling shutter, and reliable subject-detection autofocus. It is the action-and-video half of a two-body flagship pair, sitting alongside the 40MP X-H2 which trades speed for resolution.

Best for
The X-H2S is the X-series body to choose when speed matters more than pixel count - wildlife, sport, birds in flight, and demanding video work. The stacked sensor's fast readout is the whole point: less rolling-shutter skew on pans, a usable 40fps burst, and autofocus that tracks erratic subjects far better than earlier X bodies. If you want maximum resolution for landscape or studio work instead, the 40MP X-H2 is the sibling to look at.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the X-H2S and the X-H2?
They share a body but not a sensor. The X-H2S has a 26.1MP stacked sensor built for speed - 40fps bursts, minimal rolling shutter, better subject tracking. The X-H2 has a 40.2MP non-stacked sensor built for resolution and 8K video. Choose the X-H2S for action and wildlife, the X-H2 for landscape and studio detail.
Does it need CFexpress cards?
Not for stills - the SD UHS-II slot handles normal shooting fine. CFexpress Type B is needed to sustain the highest-bitrate video modes such as internal ProRes and the fastest sustained bursts.
Is the battery the same as older X bodies?
It uses the larger NP-W235, the same as the X-T4 and X-T5, not the older NP-W126S. Batteries from an X-T3 or X-T2 will not fit.
