At a glance: Canon EOS M + EF-M 18-55 IS STM kit (white) - 2012 compact EF-M mirrorless, legacy system.
About this lens
The Canon EOS M with EF-M 18-55mm IS STM kit is Canon's original 2012 mirrorless body and kit zoom. White colour variant. Canon has effectively retired the EF-M mount in favour of RF/RF-S, so the EOS M line is now a legacy system - existing bodies and lenses still work but development has ended.

- Accepts Canon EF/EF-S DSLR lenses via EF-EOS M adapter
- Not compatible with Canon RF lenses (different mount; no adapter available)
Best for
Canon's original mirrorless body - now effectively legacy. Compact and affordable, with a simple touchscreen interface. The EF-M mount is no longer being developed (Canon's APS-C mirrorless line is now RF-S on R7/R10/R50 bodies), but existing EF-M bodies and lenses are perfectly functional. A characterful first mirrorless.
Frequently asked questions
Is the EF-M mount still being developed?
No - Canon has effectively ended the EF-M line. Their current APS-C mirrorless bodies (R7, R10, R50) use the RF-S mount, part of the RF ecosystem. Existing EF-M bodies and lenses remain fully functional but new EF-M product development has stopped.
