The details
At a glance: Canon EOS 1300D + 18-55mm - 18MP entry-level APS-C DSLR with Wi-Fi, guided controls and kit zoom.
About this camera
The Canon EOS 1300D is a 2016 entry-level APS-C DSLR - sold as the Rebel T6 in North America - built around an 18MP sensor with the DIGIC 4+ processor. It was Canon's approachable first-DSLR model, adding built-in Wi-Fi and NFC to the outgoing 1200D while keeping the simple control layout and guided menus that suit someone stepping up from a phone. Supplied here with the 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 III kit zoom.

Best for
A straightforward, affordable first DSLR - the guided interface explains what aperture and shutter speed do as you change them, which makes it a genuinely good learning camera. Image quality from the 18MP sensor is more than adequate for prints and sharing. It sits at the simpler end of the range: 3fps and 9 AF points are modest for fast action, so it suits general, travel and family photography rather than sport. Its real value is access to Canon's enormous EF and EF-S lens catalogue.
Frequently asked questions
Is the kit lens stabilised?
No. The 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 III is the non-IS version, so there is no image stabilisation. It performs well in good light; in dim conditions you will want a steadier hand, a higher ISO or a tripod.
Is it a good camera to learn on?
Yes - that is what it was designed for. The guided menu system explains the effect of each setting as you adjust it, and the simplified controls avoid overwhelming a new user. It also opens up Canon's very large lens range as your interests develop.
Can I use full-frame EF lenses on it?
Yes. Both EF and EF-S lenses mount. EF lenses behave with a 1.6x crop factor, so a 50mm frames like an 80mm.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.

George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
Philip B.Third visit to the shopBrilliant advice with awesome customer service
