The details
At a glance: 22-55mm f/4-5.6 USM EF standard zoom - wider-than-kit coverage, very light, USM autofocus, no IS.
About this lens
The Canon EF 22-55mm f/4-5.6 USM was an unusual early-2000s compact Canon standard zoom, covering a slightly wider range than the traditional 28-80mm kit. USM autofocus and a lightweight all-plastic construction made it a low-cost travel zoom for EOS film and early EOS DSLR bodies.

Works with
- Canon EF-mount full-frame DSLRs (5D series, 6D, 1D series)
- Canon EF-mount APS-C DSLRs (acts as ~35-88mm equivalent)
- Canon RF mirrorless via EF-EOS R adapter
Best for
A very light, compact EF standard zoom from the early EOS DSLR era. Wider than the typical 28-80mm kit, making it a sensible walkabout choice on Canon APS-C DSLRs where it becomes a 35-88mm equivalent.
Frequently asked questions
Does this lens have image stabilisation?
No. The 22-55mm USM predates Canon's IS kit zooms. Stabilised alternatives include the EF-S 18-55mm IS on APS-C.
Will it work on Canon RF mirrorless bodies?
Yes, via the Canon EF-EOS R adapter. Autofocus and IS are preserved, and the lens functions normally on R, R5, R6, R7, R8, R50 and other RF bodies.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.

George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
Philip B.Third visit to the shopBrilliant advice with awesome customer service
