Best for
Probably Nikon's most-recommended first-prime lens - fast, sharp, very light and affordable. On full-frame (FX) it's a natural-perspective standard prime; on DX it becomes a 75mm equivalent short-telephoto, ideal for portraits. A fixture of recommended Nikon kits.
Frequently asked questions
Will it autofocus on entry-level Nikon DSLRs (D3xxx / D5xxx)?
Yes. The built-in AF-S silent-wave motor handles autofocus in-lens, so this works on every Nikon F-mount DSLR including entry-level bodies.
Is this a good first prime?
Yes - this is widely considered Nikon's most-recommended first prime. 50mm on full-frame is a natural perspective; on DX it becomes 75mm - ideal for portraits. The f/1.8 aperture gives strong subject separation at a very affordable price.
Does this lens have image stabilisation?
No — this lens does not have image stabilisation.
Why buy from Bass & Bligh
Bought from a real shop, not a warehouse.

George P.Ordered a lens onlineA proper little treasure trove
3rd time I've been to this shop to treat myself to some new kit. Always very friendly and knowledgeable. Fairly priced too. I would highly recommend a visit if your nearby and looking for camera gear. I'd say if they don't have what your looking for, it's probably not possible to find anywhere. It's a proper little treasure trove.
