  • KA-mount A-series lenses set to 'A' enable the program auto mode

Best for

The P30N suits anyone getting into film photography, from students and beginners learning the manual craft to enthusiasts who want a dependable second body. Its aperture-priority and program modes make it forgiving for newcomers, while full manual control is there when you want to learn exposure properly. Because it uses the Pentax K bayonet, it accepts a huge range of lenses, from vintage K and M series primes to later A-series and third-party manual-focus optics, so the system is easy and affordable to build on.

Frequently asked questions

Is the P30N autofocus?

No. It is a manual-focus SLR; you focus by hand using the split-image and matte screen in the viewfinder.

What lenses fit it?

Any Pentax K-mount lens fits, including K, M and A series and many third-party manual-focus lenses. A-series (KA) lenses set to 'A' also unlock the program auto mode.

What batteries does it need?

Two 1.5V SR44 or LR44 button cells. The camera needs battery power for the meter and to fire the electronic shutter.

Does it have automatic exposure?

Yes. As well as full manual it offers aperture-priority auto and a fully programmed auto mode (the latter with A-series lenses).
