Best for
A specialist close-focus monocular - originally designed for gallery and museum visitors to examine paintings and artifacts up close, also useful for birdwatching in dense cover, stamp/coin collecting, and any detail-inspection task. Monocular (single eyepiece) rather than binocular, making it smaller and lighter - you look through one eye only.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a binocular or monocular?
Monocular - single optical tube, you look through one eye. Lighter, smaller and less expensive than a binocular, at the cost of stereoscopic (depth-perceiving) viewing.
Why does it focus so close?
The Gallery Scope's signature feature - close-focus down to around 20cm lets you examine paintings, maps, stamps and fine details as though using a magnifying glass. Normal binoculars typically won't focus closer than 2-5m.
