About this lens

The Nikon F90X is Nikon's mid-1990s enthusiast 35mm SLR - matrix metering, eight-segment AF, motorised film advance. A capable Nikon F-mount film body that uses the same autofocus lenses as modern Nikon DSLRs (except AF-P, which may not work fully on film bodies).

Works with

  • Accepts Nikon F-mount lenses (AF-S, AF-D, AF/AF-D, AI-S for manual focus)
  • Full AF on AF-S/AF-D lenses; screw-drive AF works via in-body motor
  • Uses 35mm (135) film

Best for

A workhorse-era enthusiast Nikon film SLR - the F90X succeeded the F90 and is part of the lineage that led to the F5 and F6 professional bodies. Uses Nikon F-mount AF lenses - modern AF-S/AF-D lenses work (AF-P may have limitations on film bodies). Great entry into serious 35mm film photography with Nikon lenses.

Frequently asked questions

Will my current Nikon F-mount lenses work?

AF-S and AF-D/AF lenses work fully. AF-P (the newer stepping-motor line) may have firmware issues on film bodies - some AF-P functions won't work. Manual-focus AI/AI-S lenses work for metering. G-type (no aperture ring) lenses work with the F90X.
