About this camera

The Leica V-Lux 3 is a 2011 superzoom bridge camera offering a 24x optical range from a single fixed lens - 25-600mm equivalent at a bright f/2.8-5.2. Like other V-Lux models it shares its engineering with a Panasonic Lumix equivalent, carrying Leica's build, styling and firmware alongside a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit lens and Leica's own warranty and support.

Best for

A one-camera travel solution - 25mm wide for landscape and interiors through to 600mm for wildlife, with no lenses to carry or change. The bright f/2.8 wide end is better than most superzooms manage. As with all bridge cameras the small 1/2.3in sensor limits low-light performance and depth-of-field control compared with an interchangeable-lens camera, but the trade is reach and convenience in a single package.
