At a glance: Fujifilm X-E1 body (silver) - 2012 original rangefinder-styled X-mount mirrorless, 16MP X-Trans I.

About this lens

The Fujifilm X-E1 is Fujifilm's 2012 original rangefinder-styled enthusiast mirrorless body - one of Fuji's first X-mount bodies, part of the lineage that started with the X-Pro1. 16MP X-Trans I sensor, EVF, classic styling. Silver variant. A historic X-system body with its own character.

Works with

  • Accepts all Fujifilm X-mount lenses (XF + XC lines)
  • First-generation X-Trans sensor may not work optimally with some newer XF lenses optimised for newer sensors (generally fine for most uses)
  • Not compatible with Fujifilm GFX medium-format

Best for

A historically notable X-mount body - the X-E1 was Fuji's second X-mount body after the X-Pro1, at the start of the classic rangefinder-styled Fuji aesthetic. First-generation X-Trans sensor delivers characteristic Fuji colour, though AF is slower than modern Fuji bodies. A good affordable first Fujifilm body for photographers who value the classic look and don't need modern AF performance.

Frequently asked questions

Is the X-E1 still useful today?

For stills with a classic-rendering aesthetic and deliberate shooting, yes. Modern AF (face/eye detect, subject tracking) is absent, and contrast-detect AF is slower than modern hybrid systems. For serious working use, the X-E4 or newer X-E bodies are significantly more capable.
