About this lens

The HIKMicro Lynx 2.0 15mm is a thermal imaging monocular/telescope - sees heat signatures in total darkness, through light fog and foliage. 15mm lens gives a wider field of view than longer-focal variants - useful for scanning and general observation rather than long-range identification.

Best for

A thermal observation tool for wildlife, security, search-and-rescue and pest/vermin control. Thermal imaging shows heat differences as a visible image - works in total darkness, through smoke, light fog and sparse foliage. The 15mm focal length is a 'scanning' configuration - wider field of view for finding subjects rather than long-range identification.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between 15mm and 19mm Lynx variants?

15mm is a shorter focal length - wider field of view, good for scanning and finding subjects. 19mm is longer focal length - narrower field, more magnification, better for identification at longer range. Choose 15mm for general observation, 19mm for distance ID.

How does thermal imaging work?

The sensor detects long-wavelength infrared radiation (heat) and converts it to a visible image. Warm objects (animals, people, running engines) appear bright; cold objects appear dark. Works in complete darkness and through many obscurants (smoke, fog, light foliage) that would block visible light.
